The SudburyROCKS!!! Race, Run or Walk benefits cancer care at the Health Sciences North Foundation. Since the race began in 2005 we have raised more than $1 million dollars to support local charitable organizations in Greater Sudbury.
The SudburyROCKS!!! Race is organized by a dedicated and passionate group of volunteers.
We run to honour race founder Steve Matusch and longtime volunteer Lise Perdue.
SudburyROCKS!!! offers something for everyone: a free 1K for kids, plus 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon distances for runners and walkers alike. Our marathon is a Boston Qualifier, and we even host a Team Marathon Relay, where teams of up to eight complete the full 42K course. Whatever your goal, there’s a challenge waiting for you!
The Sudbury Rocks!! Running Club began in 1998 when a small group of passionate runners started training together regularly. By 2000, our numbers had grown significantly, and we introduced a weekly email newsletter to keep everyone connected and informed. By 2002, membership had surpassed 70, and it became clear that a website and social media was essential to achieve our goal of promoting fitness to a wider audience.
Our mission is simple: to encourage and support public participation in running for fitness, health, and enjoyment.
Since its inception in 2005, the SudburyROCKS!!! Race has become Northern Ontario’s largest competitive running event, attracting more than 2,000 participants annually. This success is made possible thanks to the support of the City of Greater Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Police Services, generous sponsors—including our presenting sponsor, IONIC Mechatronics—and an incredible team of dedicated volunteers.
SudburyROCKS!!! is proud to support local charitable organizations. Proceeds from the 2026 event will support cancer care through the Health Sciences North Foundation.
