January 24. 2012
The Sudbury YMCA 140 Durham St. will be running   a Learn to Run 5k and 10k beginning in March led by Leslie McCloskey.

The clinic will begin Thursday March 1/12 and run for 10 weeks. A few have requested a 10k prep program, so we can divide the group in half if the numbers warrant it.
We have been starting at 6PM with a short chat of about 15 minutes and then a run outside.

Brian Woods is the contact from the Y for this clinic, his email is brian.woods@sudbury.ymca.ca

Sunday May 13, 2012.

May 05, 2011 By: Martha Dillman - Sudbury Northern Life
I accomplished something on May 1 I had never thought I would do. I ran five kilometres in the Sudbury Rocks Race, Run or Walk for Diabetes. I didn’t walk, I didn’t fall down or trip, I didn’t keel over and gasp for air — I actually ran the whole race and finished with a smile on my face.

As you can probably tell, this was my first experience running in a race. In fact, before the beginning of this year, I didn’t run at all. With a bit of work, patience and lots of support from my family, friends and co-workers, I’m now able to say I’ve been “bit” by the running bug.

On pace to keep diabetes at bay

By CAROL MULLIGAN, THE SUDBURY STAR

If more than 2,000 people have anything to do with it, the deadly and debilitating disease of diabetes will have to loosen its grip on northeastern Ontario.

That's how many people participated Sunday in Sudbury- ROCKS!!! Race, Walk or Run for Diabetes.

The event raises funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association, as well as promotes a healthy lifestyle to offset diabetes, and has become perhaps the largest walkathon and run in Sudbury.
