CIS SudburyROCKS!!! Marathon - Presented by Carriere Industrial Supply (marathon: ON-2006-097-BDC)***Marathon registration limited to 1000 runners!!!***
The CIS SudburyROCKS!!! Chase Marathon will be a staggered start event. What does this mean?, you may ask? It means that the event will have literally 21 different start times - designed to level the field - to compensate for the fact that being female or being a bit older will naturally cause you to be a bit slower than an equally fit and trained 28 year old male. But, we only have one finish line! And one finish line tape to break! This means that a very fit and well trained 55 year old female has as much chance as winning the race and bringing home the prize as that equally fit and equally well trained 28 year old male. Listed below are the race start times for the marathon. They are developed using well supported data and studies from the World Masters Athletics association http://home.stny.rr.com/alanjones/AgeGrade.html Age Graded Start TimesFemales | | Males | Category | Handicap | Start Time | | Category | Handicap | Start Time | MF18-30 | 0:10:33 | 08:49:00 | | MM18-30 | 0:00:00 | 9:00:00 | MF31-34 | 0:11:50 | 08:48:00 | | MM30-35 | 0:00:00 | 9:00:00 | MF35-39 | 0:16:01 | 08:44:00 | | MM36-39 | 0:02:02 | 08:58:00 | MF40-44 | 0:23:31 | 08:36:00 | | MM40-44 | 0:07:25 | 08:53:00 | MF45-49 | 0:32:57 | 08:27:00 | | MM45-49 | 0:13:18 | 08:47:00 | MF50-54 | 0:43:40 | 08:16:00 | | MM50-54 | 0:19:43 | 08:40:00 | MF55-59 | 0:55:56 | 08:04:00 | | MM55-59 | 0:26:45 | 08:33:00 | MF60-64 | 1:10:55 | 07:49:00 | | MM60-64 | 0:36:11 | 08:24:00 | MF65-69 | 1:30:26 | 07:30:00 | | MM65-69 | 0:43:07 | 08:17:00 | MF70-74 | 2:03:01 | 06:57:00 | | MM70-74 | 0:56:36 | 08:03:00 | MF75+ | 2:33:16 | 06:26:00 | | MM75-79 | 1:10:54 | 07:49:00 |
All runners must start at their individually assigned start time or later. All individual start times are listed assigned by gender and age in the start time table. For example, a 45 year old female marathon runner would start at 8:27 AM while a 45 year old male marathon runner would start at 8:47 AM. No runner is allowed to start before there individual start time. Any runner starting the race before their assigned start time will automatically be disqualified. If someone that is in an older handicap wants to start at the 09:00 AM open category start then they are welcome to but would have less of a chance at winning because they would not have a handicap. The winner will be the first marathon participant that crosses the finish line and has been confirmed to have started at the appropriate start time and has been confirmed to have run the entire race course distance. All participants must wear there assigned timing chip and bib number. The assigned bib number must be visible throughout the entire race for verification purposes.
